Matt's Eagle Scout Project - Thank You PDF Print E-mail

[Troop 15,]

Thanks to everyone who helped me with my Eagle Project.  Whether you helped group flyers at the troop meetings, donated food, went door to door, or came to organize food on Halloween night, everyone's participation helped to make the project a success.

The church along with the troop collected over 4 tons of food

The food has been donated to 3 local food banks.

Thanks again to everyone who helped.

Parents of Troop 15,

This is to inform you that the date of my Eagle Project is quickly approaching.  I encourage each scout to participate in this worth while cause.  My project is a food drive based out of my church (the Marlton United Methodist Church).

To get involved I will need scouts to distribute, collect, and bring filled bags back to the drop off point at my church.  Scouts that get involved can earn relatively easy service hours for scouts and school.  If your scout would like to participate he would simply have to staple 25 flyers to 25 bags (separately) then distribute the bags on your neighborhood door knobs on the weekend of the 26th - 28th of October.  On Wednesday October 31st (Halloween evening) the scouts would collect the bags from the houses on which they distributed them.  The food would then be brought to the church that night anytime from 5-9pm for collection.
I will be talking more about the project and handing out bags and flyers on the meeting on Wednesday the 17th and the Court of Honor Wednesday the 24th.  At these times I will ask for scouts to sign up.  Please talk to your scout about the project and let them know if they have permission to participate.  All bags and flyers will be provided.

I will also be signing up scouts to help out at the church to organize all of the food that night.  My church congregation is also participating in the food drive and we are expecting to take in at least four tons of food.  All of the donations will be given to the Wiley Church Food Pantry (Marlton), the Christian Caring Center (Browns Mills), and the Ronald McDonald House (Philadelphia).

I hope that everyone will participate.  It is a very good cause to be a part of and it is an easy way to earn service hours.  Please talk to your scout about the food drive so that when I ask for sign ups at the meeting, scouts will know how and when they can participate.
